Contact Lenses Your Eyes Forget They Are wearing

Comfort is not luck. It is measurement. Your contact lens exam at Vision by Amel maps your cornea digitally and matches you to the right lens, from daily disposables to specialty scleral designs.

Contact lens fitting with digital measurement technology in Summerlin

The Fitting Studio

A Contact Lens Exam Measured To The micron

Contact lenses sit directly on your eye. That is why a real contact lens exam goes far beyond your eyeglass prescription. It is vision correction engineered for your cornea, not copied from your prescription lenses. Your cornea gets measured, your tear film gets evaluated, and your lifestyle gets a say in the contact lens type you leave with.

Dr. Amel is NCLE certified, which matters most when your eyes are not textbook. Astigmatism correction with toric lenses, multifocal lenses for reading and distance, rigid gas permeable designs, and specialty scleral and hybrid lenses for keratoconus all live in this fitting studio.

You will trial your lenses, learn insertion and contact lens care, and come back for a follow-up appointment so your eye comfort is proven, not presumed.

The Process

From First Blink To Perfect fit

Consultation

Your patient consultation covers how you want to wear lenses. Daily disposables for travel? Full time wear? Sports only? Your answers shape the fitting process.

Measurement

A digital fitting assessment maps your corneal curvature and pupil distance, the numbers a precise contact lens fitting is built on.

Trial Lenses

You wear real trial lenses and judge your visual acuity and comfort in the real world. Call it a vision test you run in your own life.

Follow Up

A follow-up vision assessment confirms the lens supports your eye health, then your prescription is finalized, your contact lens maintenance routine is set, and reorders are easy.

The Science

Why Comfort Is a Measurement, Not luck

A contact lens floats on your tear film, the microscopic layer of moisture that coats your cornea. When the lens curvature matches your corneal curvature, the lens centers itself, moves slightly with each blink and lets tears circulate underneath. When it does not match, you feel it by 2 pm. That is why your fitting starts with corneal mapping, a digital measurement of the exact shape of your eye’s front surface.

Material matters just as much. Your cornea has no blood vessels, so it breathes oxygen straight through your lens. Modern silicone hydrogel materials pass several times more oxygen than older hydrogels, which is why the right material choice keeps your eyes white and comfortable through a full working day instead of red and tired by dinner.

And when your cornea is not textbook, geometry saves the day. Scleral lenses vault completely over an irregular cornea and rest on the white of your eye, holding a smooth reservoir of fluid in between. For keratoconus and post surgical eyes, that fluid layer becomes a new, perfectly smooth optical surface, which is how many hard to fit patients see clearly again.

Daily Disposables

A fresh sterile lens every morning, no cleaning routine, no protein buildup. The healthiest choice for most part time wearers, travelers and athletes.

Toric For Astigmatism

Weighted and stabilized so the corrective power sits on the exact axis of your astigmatism, blink after blink.

Multifocal

Concentric zones of near and distance power in one lens. Your brain learns to select the zone it needs, so you read a menu and the road sign behind it.

Scleral + Specialty

Large diameter lenses that vault the cornea on a cushion of fluid. The specialty answer for keratoconus, severe dry eye and post surgical corneas.

FAQ

Questions, Answered

Every Question We Hear →

Which contact lens brands do you carry?

We fit Acuvue, Biofinity, Air Optix, Bausch & Lomb and Clariti, along with specialty lens designs when your eyes need them.

Can I wear contact lenses with astigmatism?

Almost certainly. Toric lenses are designed for astigmatism correction, and Dr. Amel fits them routinely. Multifocal and toric combinations exist too.

What if I have keratoconus or was told I am hard to fit?

This is the practice for you. Scleral and hybrid specialty lenses vault over an irregular cornea and often restore comfort and clarity that standard soft lenses cannot.

Why is a contact lens exam separate from a regular eye exam?

Because a lens that touches your eye needs its own measurements and its own health checks. The contact lens exam adds corneal mapping, trial fitting and follow up care to your comprehensive exam.

How long does a contact lens fitting take?

Plan on a little extra time beyond a standard eye exam for measurements and trial lenses, plus a short follow up visit. Comfort you keep for years is worth an afternoon.
